All Star Artist's Week - DISCOUNT and GIVEAWAY: Yorktown Road

There is really nothing out there like Yorktown Road. Her colors and textures are so incredibly rich and unique, I wish my whole wardrobe was made from them! I totally adore how her line is completely organic in feel and completely constructed with the utmost care for symmetry and craftsmanship at the same time.

I am thrilled to have Carol back this week, and I hope you are too!

What do you love about your work?
I love that the pieces look interesting and beautiful but are completely usable and wearable. They really cross that line between formal and informal.

What’s the best gift you have ever been given?
My children always bring me pieces of art they make or items they find in nature. They often tell me they knew I would like their gift because of its color or it has a lot of texture like the things I make. The thought they put into their offerings is what I find so special. I keep many of their pieces on my inspiration board.

What do you do to make your customers feel special?
Whenever possible, I like to wrap each piece beautifully with a textured card. There is nothing more fun than receiving a lovely package to open!

What are you working on to make your work stand out this holiday season?
Some smaller pieces such as textured cards, sachets and some really fun multi-colored hand dyed pieces. I want to offer a variety of pieces that are smaller and affordable for those who want to give a special gift without breaking the bank.

What do you want people to know about you and/or your work?
I put a lot of care into each piece I make, from start to finish. I truly work to make each item special and hope that shows through. Every day I feel so fortunate to do work that I enjoy.

*Bonus Question*: What’s your favorite thing about the holidays?
I love watching the traditions that develop within our little family. My kids love to decorate packages by drawing pictures and using color and glitter. The laughter every time we bring out the hand-crafted stuffed “Santa and Mrs. Claus” that I won in an auction. Making cookies and goodies with my kids. The bowl full of nuts that my daughter Audrey sits at constantly with a nutcracker… and the shells that she leaves all over the floor. The annual breaking of one of my vintage ornaments. The traditional fire I start in the oven with a tea towel. Simply spending time with my husband and children.

I love theh pleated carryall -
for my best friend and my sons godmother. She has a ill mother - her father passed away and an ill mother in law too that she is running between houses and working full time with two kids. She could use something beautiful and functional and sturdy - This would make her smile :) love the grey!

I'm absolutely in love with Carol's work (I think I found her work on flickr first) - her textures and the colours she uses are incredible, I see all her pieces as sculptural objects.
It's a joy just to watch them!
I guess I'd just hang her bags on a wall, as pieces of art :)

The random raised line scarfs are beautiful - I'd like to wear any of them!

My Goddaughter just turned 21, she lives in New York, just granduated from the Art Institiute and I would love to give her her first grown up purse, something to carry when she goes out, something that she would be proud of - mum tote - azalea dark pink

I'd love a pair of pleat pillows for my best friend - she's getting married next year and they'd be a great injection of colour for their new home together! :)

I love the pillows and the scarfs!!! Because they are so colorful, simple and elegant. I love them so much that I'll probably have a hard time see them go except if they were going to my friend Daria who shared this link. ;)

I would choose the starburst pleat clutch for a close friend who has just had a baby.
After all the fuss and sleepness nights it would be great to give her this gorgeous clutch so she can feel beautiful for the rare times she gets to go out and have some grown-up fun.

I would love to give the mum tote in Azalea dark pink to my mother. She is always saying that now that's she is old(er) she needs to wear dark drab colors...I would love to give her this and prove that she is not too old to carry a vibrant beautiful color like this.

An 8 line clutch would be great for my cousin. She is feminine and she loves small and classy clutches - exactly like this!

Although I'd love one for myself too - I really need something to take with me when I'm out in the evening!
