What do I love about my work?
I love leather. I love the feel of it, the smell of it, the sheen of it. It's tricky to work with. Like an ink drawing on paper, stitch lines on leather are permanent - I even like that aspect of it!

Best gift I've ever been given, that's a tough one.
Maybe the manicure kit I was given as a 10 year old kid... I still use it regularly. Or surprise gifts... I LOve surprises. A friend showed up to hang out one night - and brought me my favorite as a surprise treat- a coconut filled with jello. That was PRETTY great.

To make my customers feel special, I try to share my enthusiasm. I'll include a note in an order or maybe throw in a little extra treat if I think that customer will get a kick out of a new idea I'm testing. When I'm feeling inspired I like to share with friends and customers in the occasional newsletter or facebook post. I feel enthusiasm is contagious and who doesn't want an enthusiastic little punch in the face sometimes.

To make my work stand out this season, I'm focusing on one of a kind items. Over the years I've collected lots and lots of leathers - some I have just small bits of, and others larger pieces. These remnants are not enough to create a whole line, but are so special as one-off pieces. I think they'll be great as holiday gifts! Here's a special piece with neato tannery marking: http://www.etsy.com/listing/59019522/clay-small-raw-leather-clutch

What do I want people to know about my work? I want folks to know that I design every piece myself and that I make every piece myself. All my sewing is done on vintage Singer machines - and I love my machines.

My favorite thing about the holidays? Eggnog- Love the stuff.

Whenever my sister and I go shopping, we always go through the handbag aisle with our eyes closed, trusting our fingers to find the most perfect baby-bottom soft leather accessory. I would love to get her the wedge tote in cedar, and make her unwrap it with a blindfold on.......what fun it would be to watch her fumble it out of the box, turning it over in her hands - slowly realizing what it was she held, and then ripping off the blindfold with a shout of sheer joy on beholding it in all its weathered wondrousness! I don't know who would be more delighted, she or I!

The Cappuccino book bag would make an amazing gift for my brother, who is off to college next year. He loves bookbags but has outgrown his old one and I know he wants to still use one next year though. This is so suave and sophisticated while still being manly enough for my 6'2 varsity athlete bro. I know he would love and cherish it!
Thank you for the giveaway :)

My brother's girlfriend, whom my entire family adores, is back at school getting her Master's degree in speech pathology. She commutes daily to school and then commutes on the weekend to go visit my brother -- it is the only time they have together each week, just 8 or so days a month!

She would adore the Cedar Messenger bag, because it is roomy enough to hold her school books and supplies, and could even be used on the weekends when out and about in the big, big city (as my daughter affectionately calls NYC).

Thanks for the giveaway.

The pocket wallet in pewter will really suit my mother. I make bags and wallets myself (though not leather), but my mother has this needs that I can't seem to fulfill. She wants something that is small enough that she can just put in her small pocket and go, but big enough to include her cards and some cash. I can't seem to get the right size for her, even though we have done this many times.

I have a wonderful friend and mentor named Vivian. Vivian believed in me when no one else would, she showed me that beauty was in everything and how I could embrace my beauty within and show the world. She is one of those women who could wear a burlap sack and beam radiance! The Matte Black tote reminds me of a fitted jacket Vivian wore those many years ago, soft and creased around the edges from years of cherished use. And now the soft touch of leather brings back bittersweet memories of those brisk fall days together, I feel that any of your truly beautiful bags would make a special for my friend Viv.

the cover wallet in cedar would be a great gift for my husband. He has been carrying the same wallet around for I don't know how many years...

all he needs is something this size to carry the essentials. It is just his type of color and masculine style. Would be so convenient in his pocket. The perfect gift.
